Bluebirds and more bluebirds

There are bluebirds visiting the feeders every day. Yesterday a couple of the bluebirds were checking out the bird house, I wonder if one of the birds was showing the other bird where they were born. Anyway, I need to get a setup the new bird house ASAP.

Day 35 - Snowblower

Last night we had 6 inches of snow, today was the first time I used the snowblower this year.

Day 34 - Signs of snow

I'm not sure if the weather man called for accumulating snow today but it's been snowing for hours. We must have 4 inches of snow already and the snow plow just showed up on my street. I'll be using the snow blower to clear the driveway tomorrow morning.

Day 33 - Water balloons

Last summer the 4 year across the street gift wrapped a water balloon for Carol's birthday gift. For my 50th birthday party Ava brought me 50 water balloons. I think Ava had some help because I'm not sure she knows what is written on the balloons. If it ever stops snowing there will be a water balloon battle in the front yard. Thanks Ava!

Day 31 - Birthday cake

Carol dusted off the cook book and cake pans to go all in on the very creative cake. This cake is a three layer curling stone cake. The cake is covered with fondant and the curling stone handle is made of rice krispie treats.

Day 29 - Marbles

I saw the late day sun spill across the counter and decided to use the light to highlight the color of the marbles.

Day 28 - Norfolk Pine

A couple of years ago we paid one dollar for a planter of Norfolk pines. We separated the pines and every year they need replanted because they have grown so big. They are a great houseplant.

Day 27 - Wheelbarrow

We had a dusting of snow last night, tonight they are calling for snow, sleet and freezing rain. How many days til spring?

Day 26 - Prohands

I have a Prohands exerciser next to my keyboard.

Day 25 - Frozen Waterfalls

I don't know if this waterfall has a name and the photo doesn't easily show the height of the falls. I think the water cascades 80 feet into the quarry. The water falls over the rocks into an old quarry in historic Saint Peter's Village. The last time I was here I witnessed 6 boys jump off the rocks into the quarry, there were no jumpers today. I have other photos posted in my winter gallery on Smugmug.

Day 24 - Washington Memorial Chapel

I was positioned just right to capture the blue winter sky behind the Washington Memorial Chapel in the Valley Forge National Historical Park. You might think this photo was over processed but for once I waited for the late day sun before I took the photo.

Day 23 - Tree

It was a very busy day and my only photo was this Christmas tree in a friends basement. Once we discovered the tree was pre-lite it was plugged in and decorated.

Day 22 - Coexist

I spotted this bumper sticker at the mall.

Day 21 - SpongeBob

A couple of years ago I was playing with this SpongeBob Rock'em Sock'em robot in K-Mart. I guess Santa was watching because this toy showed up under the Christmas tree a week later.

Day 20 - Snow

We had more snow last night.

Day 19 - Snow crystals

We had a dusting of snow that clung to the branches so you could almost view each and every snow flake.

Day 18 - Rust

A rusty bridge railing for this weeks theme "rust." The partially frozen Brandywine river flows under this bridge.

Day 17 - Oh no Mr Bill it's cold outside

Oh no Mr Bill it's cold outside! The temperature went down to 4.7 degrees last night but it's slowly getting warmer. I made the mistake of touching metal with my thumb when I filled the bird feeders this morning. Ouch!!

Day 16 - Red Apples

I usually have an apple for lunch and these were the last of the apples in the kitchen.

Day 15 - M and M Dispensers

Day 14 - Filter

It's going to be very cold this week and the furnace is going to be working overtime. So I replaced the furnace filter this morning.

Day 13 - Firefighter

I'm wearing my new hat in support of the Pittsburgh Steelers playoff game this afternoon.

Day 10 - Singer

I thought I was going to take pictures of the snow but the snow storm did nothing and / or it's not here yet. Today's photo is from an object in the guest bedroom.

Day 9 - Backboard

The backside of the backboard proved to be the most interesting photo. With the temperature at 32 degrees and a windchill of 19 I was the only person at the playground.

Day 8 - Lunch

A typical lunch and yes I end up eating lunch at my desk.

Day 7 - Ice Storm

It started raining yesterday afternoon and the temperature dropped enough by 6 PM that ice started covering everything. This is a photo from under one of the trees in my backyard.

Day 6 - Orange juice and vitamins

I know that's a lot of vitamins to take every morning but so far this routine has kept me healthy.

Day 5 - In the house

Another photo from the Plainfield Curling Club. Teams are at the other end of the ice about to deliver their rocks down to this end. The team with the rock(s) closest to the center of the house get the points.

Day 4 - Hog Line

Today I was curling at the Plainfield, New Jersey curling club. This is the hog line, fail to get your rock across the line and it's considered "hogged" and the rock is taken out of play.

Day 3 - House for sale

Santa brought me a new bluebird box for Christmas so I'm putting this one up for sale. I was surprised we had bluebirds last spring after I planted the shrubs so close to the box but I was happy to see them return and start another family.

The new box has a double wall so I can open the side of the box and see the bluebirds without worrying about them falling out of the nest. You can expect to see photos of bluebirds later this year.

Day 2 - Piper

Piper is a soon to be 13 years young Sheltie. She was relaxing on New Years day but kept a watchful eye on me just in case I decided to go somewhere fun, like outside.
